Syntyche looked up at him startled. "Dragon? You think I'm.. oh no no no. I'm not a Red Dragon, I'm half Siren half Shifter. These eyes come from my mother, who's a Siren, but what you saw outside was my ability to shift.. See, I'm not like most shifters, I can shift into any animal I want, even mythical creatures. Even flying as a bird is easy for me. But the is one huge limitation I have. Although I can be what ever creature I desire I can only hold transformation for a short period of time."
As Syntyche explained this she sipped at her coke and ate a few of her fries.

"Yes, I've heard that legend. But you've got to remember, although most pure shifters can shift into any animal they please, it is much harder half bloods.... You know, I've never tried to shift into a Spirit Dragon.. Maybe I should give that a try when I'm feeling up to it," Syntyche mused.

"Another pack? I'm sorry," Mauro shook his head. "I'm afraid I don't follow. I know that Shifters organize themselves somewhat according to their main animal."

"Well it's different out here in the city but since I'm from the woods essentially we organize ourselves in a more traditional way." Syntyche explained. "The forest is very large and split up into different territories, and packs consist of a dozen or so families in a territory. It really depends on personal preference of what anyone of us shifts too, personally I like to shift into mythical beasts, but it is true that some packs share a common animal they shift into... The boy from the other pack commonly shifts into a fox as do the majority of his pack. Anyway the territories haven't been as important for a number of years since there's been so many marriages between packs."

"Well my father commonly takes the form of a wolf, my auntie Heidi shifts into a dear, uncle Hector a black bear, Claude and Jasper like to shift into wolves too." Syntyche said, eating more of her fish. "My mother being a Siren doesn't shift into anything, though if she could I'm guessing she would be a lark."

"Claude and Jasper are my uncles," Syntyche corrected. "I suppose they could form their own pack if they were in the city, but out in the woods there's strength in numbers. As I've said, it doesn't really matter what animal one shifts to since we can shift to anything. Basically you're born into the pack, and there are 13 different families in my pack. There are a lot of us... So now that I've told you a bit more about the way my people operate tell me a little more about the Drow."
