Natayla sighed. "I did not mean it as a lecture. I do have a small sense of self preservation."
"At least you're somewhat sane," Hades joked, hopping down onto her stomach and curling up. "Rest for now and we'll leave once the sunsets."
"Right," Natayla nodded then turned her attention to Meian. "I'm sorry I could not have been of more help, in the morning please tell Riku to come to my shop and I will have a map of the coven for him, that is all the information I am able to give."
"Scratch that, you're nuts."

Riku stood, walking into his room that was closed. He opened the door and there was a glimpse of a black room before he closed it. A few moments later, he came out, wearing a pair of black slacks but with his arm brace still attatched, showing the dagger that hid underneath it. He was currently topless, prefering to sleep without a shirt and in his arms was a black blanket. He threw it to Natayla. "Here," he said and went to his small kitchen, grabbing a glass of milk, the only drink that seemed to be in the fridge.

"Thank you," Natayla said in a soft voice. Had she been a normal human girl she would have blushed and giggled at Riku's half naked form as he was attractive and had a nice build to him. But thankfully for Natayla's pride she had lived in the coven for enough years to not become distracted by handsome men.
She sat up with some difficulty and undid her dark violet obi, setting it neatly on the floor and opening her kimono enough so she was comfortable. Pulling the blanket to her chin Natayla lied back down, Hades returning to sleep on her stomach.
"I will be gone before you wake." Natayla said, not caring if Riku heard her or not.

Riku merely nodded, not caring if Natayla saw him or not. He walked to his room, opening the door and walking in. He looked over his shoulder at his famliar. "Meian?" The raven shook its head and Riku shrugged, closing the door. He set down the glass of milk he had poured and threw back his covers, sliding in gracefully. He sighed, turning on his side to get more comfortable.
The familiar glided to the window, landing on the sill. He sat down, resting peacefully. The raven gazed out at the setting sun, enjoying the feeling of twilight. He then looked to Hades. "Her father's the vampire?" He asked, stirring up conversation.

Natayla fell asleep in seconds. Not only was she drained from her time in the sun she had not gotten a more than 4 hours of sleep all week. Maybe this is a good thing, Hades thought, purring away as her chest rose and fell. At least she's sleeping.
The emerald eyed cat stood and stretched, stepping off of Natayla so that she could sleep more comfortably. He would wake her a few hours after the sunset. She would be upset with him, no doubt, but she needed sleep even if she didn't want to admit it.
Hades ears perked up when he heard the question. "That is correct. Her mother is a witch. Natayla is a very lucky girl, she can handle the sunlight most days for a few hours but I suppose even with the fog some sun was getting to her."

Meian mentally agreed. The fog only made it hard to see, not completely block the sun. "Her mother must be a very extrordinary witch, to attract the eye of a vampire." He paused. "Ah...please don't think me as prejudice as my master. He's...had a hard life when it comes to vampires," he explained, keeping Riku's history as hidden as he could. It didn't matter if he shared it, it was just that Riku would not like that at all.

Hades chuckled, no longer disdaining the raven. "It is quite alright, the rumors of vampires being shallow are mostly true, her father was no different in that respect. Natayla has the most beautiful mother, she doesn't souly get her looks from her fathers side after all. Sometimes I wish she wasn't so appealing though, she forgets that not everyone is as virtuous as her father and brother." Hades sighed. "Oh, I've said too much."
Hades walked to the fireplace and laid down. "As long as we're sharing, may I ask where you found Riku? My own story is probably nothing compared to yours."

The raven mentally chuckled. "It wasn't I who found him but my old master, the God of the Shadows, Erebus. Riku's family was killed when he was only 10 and he ran away from the hospital. He was going to die when my master found him and brought him here. He gave Riku control of the darkness, claiming the boy as his, and he charged me with teaching and protecting him." He ruffled his feathers a little, relaxing further. "I see so many traits that Erebus himself had that it makes me wonder if the boy's parents were actually human. It is fairly common for the gods to find a mate that is human."
He looked over at Hades. "I'm not what he would do if his father was actually a god. It's still just suspicion on my part but it does make me think...why did Erebus choose him? Of all the humans in the world, he chose this homeless boy as his...it's perplexing if anything," he added. "Perhaps I'll speak to Natayla when she awakens. She is a witch so I have no doubt she knows of some situations where there was a half-god, half-human," he suggested to her familiar.

Hades nodded, eyes wide. Riku was amazing, and even more dangerous than he had previously thought. "Natty will probably be able to shed some light on this. She's obsessed with research so it is most likely she knows of something."
There was an awkward silence and Hades cleared his throat. "So you were formerly with a god... My origins are rather pathetic in comparison. I'm just a stray cat Natayla charmed to speak when she was young. I don't even have a pedigree to my name."

Meian shook his head. "And no feline is smarter," he complimented. "It takes a long time to get to my level, much longer than I would like," he added as a joke. "As long as you care for her, that is all that can be asked." He looked over at Riku's closed bedroom door, knowing the boy was probably having another nightmare. The living room suddenly got very dark and Meian mentally sighed. "It's him, you know. He dreams things, things he won't tell even me. They must be terrible...to even activate his powers," he said, his voice grave.
Riku groaned in his sleep, unable to stop the flow of memories that entered his dreams.
Riku looked up from his place crouched in the corner. He watched as the vampire grabbed his mother, his father already dead on the ground. "Where is it!" The being roared.
His mother looked over at Riku before glaring at the vampire. "Go to hell," she spat. The vampire didn't hesitate to sink his teeth into her neck, ripping out the flesh instead of drinking her blood. It slammed a hand through her chest, pulling out her heart, including all the entrails still connected to it. He crushed it in his hand, letting the blood cascade to the floor and Riku could only watch in shock as it fell to the ground.
"You're too weak." It was the vampire speaking. "You can't save anyone, not even your family." He watched, paralyzed as the vampire ripped his sister's limbs off. Blood was everywhere, staining his silver hair and pale skin.
It was then that the dream changed. The entire room when black and the vampire faded away. It felt like he was being embraced by something, something far greater than himself, or even the vampire. "Sleep...here in the dark."
Meian looked at the door again as the darkness faded away and he guessed Riku's nightmare had stopped.

"I suppose you are right," Hades said and if he could have he would have smiled. And then the room went dark. It did not surprise him that Meian said that the boy had nightmares. Even Natayla, who had not suffered from many things hand screamed herself awake often enough for Hades to be concerned.
"If I may be so bold, Natayla has some potions that get rid of nightmares, or at least lessen their frequency and severity."

Meian thought about it for a moment. It would help if Riku didn't have nightmares but then again, the boy needed to be strong. "I am grateful for your offer but...Riku must learn to deal with this on his own," he said, inclining his head a bit to show his respect for the other familiar. He looked outside and saw the moon was peeking up over the horizon of the buildings. "Well, if Natayla wishes to leave, now would be an excellent time to do it. I'll send Riku to you in the morning," he said, promising.

Hades nodded. "Right," he stepped quickly to Natayla and kneaded her side with his paws. "Natty, wake up."
The half-breed grumbled and batted hum away. Sighing Hades extended his claws and tried again, this time rousing Natayla from her sleep.
"Ow," she complained, sitting up. "Oh, what time is it?"
"About 11 or so." Hades bowed his head to pick up her obi.
She took the stiff silk obi and stood, tying the obi securely around her slim waist. Already she was looking better, the redness fading and the burns looking less sever.
Natayla looked over to Mein. "We shall see you both in the morning then," she said to him.
With that Natayla made her way to the door as silent as a shadow. "Rest well," and then she was out the door with Hades following saying his own good bye to the raven.
Natayla wasn't fully recovered and stayed close to the buildings in case she needed some support. She had to move quickly lest she be attacked. Once the moon came out all manner of creature roamed the streets freely and there had been more than one time Natayla had been 'disturbed'. Thankfully Natayla found her way to her shop without much trouble.
But as she was unlocking the front door she felt something watching her from the darkness.

Meian sighed as he watch Natayla leave. He could tell the fates were pushing her and Riku together for some ridiculous reason. He was about to rest when he sensed Riku was out of bed. The raven stood, flying out the open window where he knew his master was.
Riku was currently sitting on the roof of the apartment, looking out on the city of Wyld Nites. Everything looked so peaceful... He heard Meian land next to him. "Riku, what are you doing awake? You should get some rest," the raven said, using that kind but commanding voice.
Riku leaned back, looking up at the moon. "Probably...but right now, I think I could get more rest out here than in my room. You know?"
If Meian could, he would roll his eyes. "No...not really but I respect your decision. Natayla has left, as I'm sure you are aware," he added, changing to conversation.
Riku nodded. "Yeah. I heard her leave," he said.
Meian looked over at him. Heard her? The boy was on the roof and even though Natayla was human, she was also vampire. She could be as silent as a ghost.
"Something's out there." Riku's words broke him out of his thoughts. "Something that shouldn't be...it's roaming the darkness...the shadows are more worked up than usual," he said, his eyes fixed on the starry sky. Meian looked down at the city. He knew it was bad when even the shadows panicked.

"Natayla?" Hades asked when she paused before opening the door, staring into the darkness.
She was jarred from her thoughts and jumped slightly. "OH! Oh, it's nothing Hades," she finally opened the door. "Just my mind playing tricks on me."
"That's what you get for not sleeping," he scolded as they walked in.
Natayla just chuckled, locking the door behind her and walking around to the back where the stairs to her living quarters were located. Although she was relatively safe now that she was inside her home she couldn't shake the feeling that someone or something was watching her. She sighed as she walked into her very large bathroom and prepared the salts and herbs for healing.
"Is something bothering you?" Hades asked, watching the hot water stream into the tub.
"I don't think it's anything," she replied, slipping into the hot water, pulling her long ebony hair to one side. "but even if it is we'll be safe."
As the hot water washed over her all of her blisters and burns slowly faded and some of her strength was returned to her. Natayla dunked her head back into the water, and then as her last burn was healed the water turned black and she stepped out of the now cooling water. Just as Natayla shrugged on a midnight blue robe Hades hissed loudly, his ears pulled back.
"Hades, what's-" but she was cut off. Suddenly someone had their hand over her mouth, stifling her scream.
