It was a foggy day in Wyld Nites and after much coaxing from Hades, Natayla ventured out of her magic shop. Although she protested that she had cleaning and other work to do her black cat simply shot her a look and the stubborn halfbreed was walking towards the park with him resting on her shoulders. After all it was a work holiday and no one would be coming around her shop to begin with.
"Didn't I tell you this would be nice?" Hades smirked as he purred.
"Yeah, yeah," Natayla answered, both enjoying her walk and hating that Hades had been right... again. "I still don't feel right about leaving the shop though."
"Oh enough with the shop, you're only 18 and you sound like your 80!" Hades scolded. It was true, since Natayla left home almost a year ago she hadn't mentioned a single thing a young woman ought to. For Natayla it was all business talk. "Enjoy your youth while you still have it."
"Hades, I am a vampire." Natayla said bluntly.
"Ahh, but only half, you still wont last as long." he purred. "Besides, you should be looking for a nice boyfriend, someone who're spoil you rotten.. and of course me."
"Har har," Natayla laughed sarcastically. "You're such a selfless talking kitty."
"I try."
Natayla just shook her head and laughed. Hades had been her best friend for years now, ever since she found him abandoned in a box on the side of the road. She cared for him, gave him a name, and one day bewitched him so that he could speak. If anything happened to Hades, Natayla didn't know what she would do.

"Knives?"
"Check."
"Dagger?"
"Check."
"Ego?"
"Meian..."
Through a foggy park, a teenager walked. He was dressed all in black, his usually gear for hunting. However, it wasn't the tight clothing expected from the everyday hunter. He wore a sleeveless black hoody and black baggy pants. His knives could been seen, dangling from his belt but the brace on his forarm that concealed a dagger was hidden from view. On his hip was sheathed a sword made from the pits of darkness. He looked threatening enough but the aqua cat eyes and the silver hair only added to it, giving him a dangerous appearance. To complete it, a raven stood on his shoulder.
"Well boy, what is it today?" The raven asked, almost lazily.
The teen's eyes flicked to the bird for a moment before looking forward. "Wood Nymph, Meian. It's been stirring up trouble at Bloody Rose," he explained, being as brief as possible.
Meian nodded. "I see. So old Sao commisioned you to take care of it, eh? What do you get? A life time of alcohol?" He asked.
"Hardly," the teen snapped. He paused and looked forward. "Enough to pay for that new set of knives," he said.
Meian made a scoffing noise that sounded more like a caw. "What, the silver ones aren't good enough for you?"
"No," came the very blunt answer. "They scratch to easily. Nec said he would make me a set made of diamond and silver," he added, a ghost of a smirk on his face.
Meian shook his head. "Fine. I'll watch from the skies. Be careful, Riku." With that, the bird took off into the sky, climbing out of fog.

Despite all of Hades tricks to make Natayla relax on her day off she managed to find something work related to do.
"Oh thank you for bringing me out here!" Natayla smiled happily, getting the front of her purple kimono dirty from kneeling in the dirt. "This is the nicest patch of witch hazel I've seen in a long time!"
"Ugh," Hades moaned, bowing his head. "You just won't stop will you? You're supposed to be relaxing, do you remember what that is? Lay down, take a nap in the shade!"
"But I am relaxing silly kitty," Natayla smiled, her pointed k9 teeth showing. "I'm just picking herbs, mother gardens and that relaxes her."
".... I'm going to scratch your face while you sleep." Hades glared, his tail flicking back and forth irritably.
"Aww, I love you too," she giggled, scratching her friend behind the ears. "Oh look, deadly nightshade!"

Riku walked through the fog like a silver-haired demon. A twitchy silver haired demon though. Every sitr caused his hand to move to a knife, ready for battle. He walked through the park, the weather not cooperating at all in his search. The wood nymph was probably laughing at him. He heard a slight shuffle to his left and threw a nife, without hesitation. It wedged itself into a tree...right next to a girl. He mentally sighed at his overreaction and walked over, ignoring any reaction the girl would give and pulled it out. He gently brushed off the splinters on it and returned to its spot on his waist. His eyes narrowed briefly at the girl before he turned to walk away.

"Natayla watch out!" Hades shouted, seeing the knife flying in her direction.
"Ah!" she yelped, shielding her head with her arms.
After a moment she opened her eyes to see a silver haired teen pry a knife out of the tree beside her. She blinked a few times and then got to her feet, shaking slightly as she clutched her basket of herbs.
"H-hey!" she yelled after him.
"What's your problem!" Hades took over, his fur standing on end as he hissed. "You could have killed her?! What kinda psycho-path goes around throwing knives at girls without apologizing?!"
"Um, Hades, that is a bit of an over reaction," Natayla's brow furrowed, picking up her black cat.
"No it isn't!" he yelled, trying to swipe at the silver haired teen. "You could have been seriously hurt and you can't heal in the sunlight!"

Riku glanced back, his mind clicking to what the familiar had just said. He turned to face them, leaning more on his right leg, ready to use both weapons and magic if needed. He was about to say something when Meian flew out of the sky, his large wings spread wide as he glidded to land on his master's shoulder.
"Hold your tongue, feline," the raven snapped. "Does she lie dead at your feet? No. You should be grateful he averted his aim before releasing as opposed to-"
"Enough," Riku said to his familiar. His eyes narrowed at the girl. There was an aura about her he didn't like. In a flash, he had the dagger in his had and extended to her throat. "I'll give you one last word to say, vampire," he said, his voice masking the hatred boiling inside of him.

"Shut it, you over sized feather-duster!" Hades hissed but quieted when Riku put a dagger to Natayla's throat.
Natayla's catlike eyes widened. Her life had been threatened before but never in this manner. She swallowed the lump in her throat and stammered. "I-I, I'm a halfbreed."
Moving on instinct now Natayla jumped several feet backwards, more than a safe distance away from the point of his dagger. "What is your business with me?" she questioned, her former shock now gone. "I have done nothing to provoke an attack from you, I do not recognize your face nor that of your familiar."

Riku lowered his weapon, surprised by this information but he didn't show it. Half-breed? What kind of human would ever mate with scum like a vampire? He thought to himself. He returned the dagger to its place, hidden in his arm. "Forget it," he said, turning. He looked over his shoulder. "If you want to know, I'm a hunter or what your people call us, Assassins," he said and started to walk away.
That was when he felt the surge of magical energy and the wind blew through the trees. What signaled that it was strange was the fact that the fog didn't move. He heard a soft giggle to his right and without even hesitating, withdrew his sword, its black blade gleaming with the chance to taste blood.
Clearly, the wood nymph hadn't expected an attack so quickly as it gasped as the blade went right through its heart. Green blood spread from the wound but Riku wasn't finished with it yet. He concentrated on his magic and a torrent of black flame exploded from the sword, incinerating the creature, leaving only its fading screams. He whipped his sword downwards, the velocity sending the green blood clean off the sword and onto the ground. The sword seemed to glow red, as though pleased with what it had accomplished.

"Wh-" Natayla stammered, walking to the spot the wood nymph had just been. "How could you do that?!"
Hades leaped out of Natayla's arms and into a tree above her as waves of energy rolled off of her. Her long black tendrils of hair lifted slightly. She was obviously upset, she didn't know the nymph but in her eyes nothing justified killing. He had even gone so far as to destroy the body.
"How could just kill that nymph like it was nothing? And you call vampires monsters, you should take a good look in the mirror!" Natayla yelled, but she did not advance. As much as she wanted to walk up to him and slap him across the face or curse him she didn't want to make an enemy of him.

Riku looked over at her, slightly confused. A vampire that cares about something else? Unheard of. He mentally rolled his eyes. Half-breed. She probably cares a lot about creatures. He sheathed his black sword, running a hand through his silver hair. "It's my job," he said, kind of annoyed at her persistent questions. "I told you I'm an assassin. I was paid to kill that creature. It was causing trouble at Bloody Rose," he added, trying to get this girl off his back.
Meian shook his wings a bit. "Yes, girl. That's what assassins do so it should be an issue if it's protecting the peace of Wyld Nites. If anything, you should be grateful. The wood nymphs are often attracted to vampires, be they half-breed or not. Both are night creatures, so it is understandable," he reasoned with her. "That one would have no doubt tried to collect you so instead of getting angry you should-"
"Meian." Riku interupted the raven before it could get on a tangent. "I don't deserve thanks for simply doing my job. But I don't want a sermon as my reward," he added, his voice void of emotion.

Natayla had to slap a hand over Hades mouth. He was no doubt going to start yelling at them again, and threaten to eat Meian. She sighed and nodded her head. She knew that assassins weren't bad people, they did what they were paid to do, just as she did.
"I am sorry for over reacting." Natayla bowed her head and turned to leave.
But then the fog started to lift and a ray of sunlight hit her cheek. Natayla winced and felt her skin burn. "AH!" She yelped, dropping Hades and covering her face with her arms. Crumpling to the ground Natayla did her best to cover herself from the sunlight.
"Natayla!" Hades yelled, putting his paws on her knee. "We can make it if you run!"
"No!" Natayla screamed, the sun penetrating her hands making them blister painfully. "I. I don't have my glasses!"
Frantically Hades ran to Riku and bowed at his feet. "Please! I implore you! Please save Natayla, we can pay you anything you want!"

((If you don't mind my cutting in))
Isidora had been meandering around in the shape of a house cat and had sneaked up on the group in partial curiosity. She knew she could be helpful and no one would know it was her. It was the best way to do good. Even as an anarchist at heart, she hated seeing people die or get hurt. She liked chaos in the best way- just enough to ruin's a person's day and not to get them killed.
<I can help,> Isidora said in the language of the form she was in.
She then turned into an Albatross and positioned herself to use her size as an umbrella, using her large wingspan to work as a source of shade.

((Not at all!))
The young assassin watched with mild interest as the half-ling received her protection from what might have killed her. Not that he cared in the slightest since she was half-vampire. A shape shifter? He thought to himself. Meian shuffled a little on his shoulder, his talons digging in a bit but not painfully so. Still, he couldn't help his interest, however small it may have been. "Are you a shape shifter?" He addressed the albatross. Meian sent him a look but then shook his raven head slightly. Even with Riku being as cold-hearted as he was, he couldn't help his natural curiosity.

"Natayla," Hades pawed at his best friend. "Are you alright? Does it hurt."
Wincing Natayla shook her head, looking at her burnt and blistered hands. "I will... I will be fine, but we need to get home before the fog completely dissipates."
Natayla lifted her golden cat eyes to the shape-shifter and asked. "Could you carry myself and Hades to my shop before the fog lifts?"

Isidora nodded at both of the human-like people and carried the half-vampire to her shop before flying off. She just hoped that Sara was too busy with the suicidal werewolf to notice her good deed.
